What is Vashya Koota?
Vashya Koota, which is also pronounced as Vasya Koota, is one of the compatibility factor or compatibility parameter in the process of horoscope matching by vedic astrology.
The Vashya Koota analyses a couple at the level of mental compatibility. And control is the major emphasis when we discuss Vashya matching's role in mental compatibility.
The factor of Vashya Koota is allotted two points in the Ashtakoot Gun Milan.
The Vashya matching is a small compatibility factor just like Varna matching, not something like Gana matching, Nadi matching and Bhakoot matching.
Rules for Vashya Matching
Vashya matching is the kundli matching analysis with is based on Janma Rasi or the Moon Sign at birth and is not dependant on the birth Nakshatra.
As we already know, Vasya suggests control. And Vashya Koota takes into account the nature of various zodiac sign. The core purpose of Vashya matching is to find out that which zodiac sign can have what kind of control over the other zodiac sign. These two moon signs are the sign of the bride and the groom.

Vashya matching Rules:

If the Bride and the Groom have moon signs belonging to the same group, they will score full 2 points in Vashya matching.

When Groom's janma rasi can have control over the bride's janma rasi, 1 point is given in Vashya matching.

When Bride's rasi is eatable by the rasi of the groom, the half-point is given.

In the rest of all combinations, no point is given.

When a sign can be controlled, the term 'Vashya' is used. When a sign is eatable by another sign, the term 'Bakshya' is used.

What is Vashya dosha?
Vashya dosha is when a couple scores NO point or zero points in the Vashya matching.
Vashya dosha is not a big concern in matching a marriage and can hardly affect the consequence of Married life. Vashya dosha is something very nominal when compared to other doshas like Manglik dosha and Nadi dosha.
Vashya Koota and the factor of Control
A natural question arises as, Why the moon sign of Groom is said to have that greater but harmonious control over the bride's moon sign?
