Lakshmi is the Goddess of wealthy, prosperity and all kind of abundance. She is one of the most popular Divine figures of Hinduism. This yog fundamentally is like a precious jewel for any Birth chart. As this yog can provide native with abundance of wealth and opulence, it has to be connected with the most auspicious, desire fulfilling and benefic aspects of the horoscope and it does, from the definitions of this yog.
This is the Phaladeepika’s version of Lakshmi Yog :
Definition
“If the lord of the 9th house and Venus are posited in their own or exalted signs identical with trine or angle, the Yog is called Lakshmi Yog.”
Description
“A person born with Lakshmi Yog in his birth chart will always enjoy the company of young and amiable women. He will be free from ailments (illness), be wealthy and sharp, blessed by the Goddess Lakshmi and will be protector of his people. He will have the best of transports like horses, elephants and palanquins. As a ruler, he will be most pleasing to all his subjects and liberal in his gifts.”
Explanation
In almost all the known classics on Vedic astrology, Venus is considered the planetary equivalent for the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi. Venus is also the indicator of vehicles and comfortable conveyances.
The trine house (1st, 5th and 9th) are referred to as Lakshmi sthanas or places where Lakshmi resides in some notable classics like Brihat Parasara Hora and Phaladeepika. And it is even important to note that the 9th house is the strongest of all trine houses known as Bhagya house or house of fortune (luck).
Though it is not very clear from the verse itself that, both, Venus and 9th lord should be in a conjunction or not. But in any situation this marvellous yog will give good amount of riches. These planets if in a conjunction will prove more beneficial in results and will give much more abundance in wealth. The practical example of such conjunction resulting into very profound Lakshmi Yog is birth chart of American business magnate and billionaire, founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates (William Henry Gates III).
Gemini, Cancer and Scorpio are the only three ascendant in which this Yog can occur. (with Venus and 9th lord combine in good house like angle or trine, both in an own or exaltation sign.)
Note them,
For Gemini ascendent, Saturn and Venus in 5th house of Libra causes Lakshmi Yog.
For Cancer ascendent, Jupiter and Venus in 9th house of Pisces causes Lakshmi Yog.
For Scorpio ascendent, Moon and Venus in 7th house of Taurus causes Lakshmi Yog.
Another variation of Lakshmi Yog :
A different variation of Lakshmi Yog is found other ancient texts on vedic astrology, which does not include Venus but 9th lord and lagna lord (Ascendent lord).
Definition
“The 9th lord in an angle or trine in its own, mulatrikone (primary own sign for planets ruling two signs in vedic astrology), exaltation sign and the lagna lord strong.”
Description
“One will be charming, famous, of high moral merits, virtuous, kingly and endowed with many sons and abundant wealth.”
Notes
This variation of Lakshmi Yog which involves Lagna lord and 9th lord is more of like a functional yog variation for Lakshmi yog which is not dependant on a specific planet (like Venus is previous case). The variation of Phaladeepika (previous variation) is much like a special yog variation for Lakshmi yog.
