Vidyut means “lightning”, it also means “shinning” or “glittering”. This name of the Yog can be because it may bestow gains which makes you stand out or shine.
Definition
“The 11th lord in deep exaltation conjoin with Venus and these two falling in an angle from the Lagna lord forms Vidyut Yog.”
However, an another definition which is also used by most has a less strict statement as just, “the 11th lord exalted and with Venus in an angle from the Lagna lord.” Thus dropping the requirement of conjunction of both.

The 11th lord of gains in deeper exaltation state and along with Venus, the planet of luxury, make the strong sense of abundant possibilities of gains and fulfilment of desires. The 11th house is the house of honours as well, so can surely contribute towards fame to some extent and make some one a king like or in charge of accumulated gains (like in treasury).
