This is another Yog formed out of relationship of Jupiter and Moon in chart. As per the results of this Yog, it is an unfavourable one. Defined as below.
Definition
“When Jupiter falls in the 6th, 8th or 12th (dussthana) house from the Moon, it forms Sakata Yog.”
To analyse and qualify this Yog, readers and practitioners must be very careful since Jupiter in 6th or 8th house from Moon can give either Chandra Adhi or Mukuta Yog depending on other additional factors, in which case the effects are highly favourable.
So we can conclude from everything mentioned above as, if Jupiter falls in one of three dussathanas (6th, 8th and 12th) from Moon and the same Jupiter is not involved in any of these favourable yogas, then it results into Sakata Yog.
Phaladipika describes the effects of Sakata Yog as follows :
Description
“The native who has his birth in Sakata Yog will often be unfortunate and may regain what he had lost. His will be a very ordinary and insignificant birth in this world. Inevitable he will suffer from much mental agony and be exceedingly unhappy.”
Sakata means “cart” or “wheel of cart”. Similarly to the wheel of cart which goes up and down, slowly round and round. This Yog is said to give very fluctuating fortunes with rise and fall in life. Othe favourable and unfavourable conditions of Moon and Jupiter in chart can make effects of this Yog, benign or worse.
Fluctuations in fortune are the characteristic features of this Yog.
