Parvata Yog

When dispositor of Lagna lord is in its own or exaltation sign and in angle or a trine, gives rise to Parvata Yog.

The word “Parvata” means “Mountain”. The given below is Phaladipika’s version of this Yog, which is based on strength of dispositor of the Lagna lord.

Definition

“The Parvata Yog is formed when the dispositor of the Lagna lord is in its own or exaltation sign and is in an angle or a trine.”

Description

“Those born with the Parvata Yog possess limitless wealth, happiness and perpetual gains. He commands authority over the Earth.”

Explanation

This version of Parvata Yog belongs to the dispositor category of yogas for Lagna lord. This is one of the another fundamental principles of Jyotisha (Vedic Astrology) in which a planet (for eg: venus) derives strength from the strength of the lord of the sign in which that planet (venus) sits.

The strength lord of the sign in which a planet resides has a very important contribution towards the end total outcome produced by that planet.

For example :
(case 1) - Venus is placed in Pisces, and Jupiter is placed in Cancer.
(case 2) - Venus is placed in Pisces, and Jupiter is placed in Scorpio.

From above cases, Venus is fundamentally more strong in case 1 as in comparison to Venus of case 2.

Even though when the position of Venus is same, in both cases it falls into it’s sign of exaltation. And in both cases natural benefic Jupiter aspects on to Venus.

In case 2, Venus’s sign lord Jupiter is in friendly sign.
In case 1, Venus’s sign lord Jupiter is exalted too.

The case 1 Venus derives more strength because it’s dispositor Jupiter is very strong as well.

Now, as per the definition the dispositor is not only in its own or exalted sign, but also placed in an angle or a trine house (houses which represents good or favourable areas of life). Extend the above given concept further, “When the lord of sign in which planet (eg: venus) resides is favourably placed in an angle or trine (for eg: if jupiter is in an angle or trine) and is strong in own or exalted sign, the said planet (venus) not only derives strength but becomes more favourable by the virtue of dispositor (jupiter).”

This is the underlying concept which makes Parvata Yog so profound, as we are talking about dispositor of Lagna lord (the pillar of horoscope).
